Itinerary

Day 1: NEGOMBO

Upon arrival you will meet your chauffer guide and transferred to Negombo for your first overnight stay, rest of the afternoon at leisure to relax and venture out to try Negombo’s numerous dining options.

Day 2: NEGOMBO > DAMBULLA

Today your tour begin with an epic journey through the island’s rural villages take you to the ancient capital Cultural Triangle to visit some of the county’s fascinating sites. En-route you will stop at Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, the home to the largest group of orphaned elephants in the world. The sight of herds of elephants splashing and playing in a river has charmed countless visitors.

Check in at the hotel and explore the beautiful and decorative ancient Golden Cave temples at Dambulla which consist more than 150 statues and about 1500 paintings in 5 separate caves in a gigantic boulder.

Day 3: ACTIVITIES IN THE CULTURAL TRIANGLE

After an early breakfast head to the Sigirya and climb this amazing rock fortress, the ancient rock fortress and palace of Sigiriya is one of the seven World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka. The fortress was used as a rock shelter mountain monastery, with caves prepared and donated by devotees to the Buddhist Sangha. On completion of the Sigiriya rock fortress you will be taken to medieval capital of Sri Lanka Polonnaruwa and explore the ruins of this royal capital of Sri Lanka. The 3 huge rock-cut images of Buddha are the highlights and one of the world’s great artistic treasures.

Return back to the hotel for overnight stay, on the way to the hotel if you are lucky you will see wild elephants roaming around the main road.

Day 4: DAMBULLA > KANDY

After breakfast proceed to Kandy, the last kingdom of Sri Lanka. On the way to Kandy stop at a Sri Lankan’s spice & herbal garden for an educational tour of how Sri Lankan’s spicing things up. On reaching Kandy check in at the hotel, in the late evening your driver will take you to the temple where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined. We strongly recommend you to participate in the evening pooja for a magical experience.

Day 5: ACTIVITIES IN KANDY

Today you will discover Kandy with a city tour including a walk around the lake, bazaars of Kandy and the royal family’s botanical garden and the orchid house. After lunch at a local restaurant you are free to explore Kandy at your own pace or take a dip in the hotels swimming pool or take a boat ride on the Mahaweli River.

Day 6: KANDY > NUWARA ELIYA BY TRAIN

After breakfast your driver will drop you at the Kandy station, head out of Kandy by train through the tea covered hills and mountains into the nations tea-growing highlands of Nuwara Eliya. This train journey considered as one of the lovely trips in the world hence getting a seat is a difficult task but most of tourists enjoy this trip as locals in the 2nd or the 3rd class carriage. Your driver will pick you from the Nuwara Eliya station and take you to your hotel. Nuwara Eliya is the home to Ceylon, and also known as “Little England” a hill country retreat where the British colonialists could immerse in their pastimes such as fox hunting, deer hunting, elephant hunting, polo, golf and cricket.

Day 7: NUWARA ELIYA > COLOMBO

After a leisurely breakfast take the winding roads down to Colombo passing two of the islands most beautiful waterfalls and Sir David Lean’s film Bridge over The River kwai picturesque location Kithulgala. Check in at your hotel in Colombo, later in the evening you can take a walking tour of Colombo.
Colombo has a unique collection of colonial heritage buildings from the British Raj. The area called The Fort was the commercial centre of Old Ceylon. Colombo is an ideal location for rest and relaxation. Surrounding the city centre or Fort is the shopping area called Pettah with colourful bazaars and markets lining the streets. The best restaurants in the island are to be found in the city as well as a collection of world famous Old Empire hotels that hark back to a bygone era

Day’s 8 to 13: DEPART FOR MALDIVES

Today you will be driven to Colombo International Airport in order to catch the outbound flight to Maldives, due to geographical location Maldives can be reached with less than one hour from Colombo. On arrival at Maldives you will be transferred to your resort by speedboat or by Sea Plane.

You can add any number of nights you desire depending on your budget, alternatively on this itinerary we have added 6 nights of leisure relaxing in the Maldives.

Day 14: DEPARTURE

Today you will be dropped at the Maldives airport for your return journey
